Mix the dry ingredients and add the egg, milk, margarine and, little by little, the water, kneading until it comes off the hands. Knead well, cover and let rise for 20 minutes. Divide into balls, open with a rolling pin and roll up (the tongues). Arrange on baking sheets and let rise for about 1 hour. Distribute the topping and bake in a preheated medium oven (180ยบC) for about 30 minutes or until golden. Brush the still hot buns with the syrup and let it cool.

Syrup: Boil the ingredients until you get a yarn-like syrup.
