Cheese Twisted Bread

  1. Combine the flour and salt in a bowl. Make a well in the center and add the yeast, milk, butter, and egg.
  2. Whisk to combine all the liquids, then gradually incorporate the flour from the sides.
  3. When the dough begins to form lumps, knead it well until smooth. Shape it into a ball and let it rest for 1 hour.
  4. Divide the dough into quarters. Roll each quarter into a ball and then roll out into a rectangle.
  5. Brush two of the rectangles with softened butter, then sprinkle with cheese and parsley. Cover with the remaining two rectangles.
  6. Gently roll the stacked rectangles with a rolling pin, then cut them into strips.
  7. Pair the strips together, brushing some more butter in between, and twist each pair.
  8. Place the twisted strips on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let them rest for 20 minutes.
  9. Brush with egg wash and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 25 minutes.
