Don’t throw away your cardboard toilet roll, you can’t imagine what you can do with it!

Another optimal use for cardboard rolls is to act as a ‘shuttle’ for scattered wires. Simply wind the loose wire around the roll to keep it neat and untangled. But for a better hold, you can make a small vertical cut at one end of the roll, through which you can pass the end of the thread and then start winding. Then you can use the same (or another) cut to fix the top end of the thread as well. This way you will be more than sure that the thread will not unravel.

The uses of cardboard roll in gardening

If you love gardening, the cardboard toilet roll will also be useful in this area. Spreading it on the soil when watering will allow water to be retained for longer and the soil to hydrate for longer. Plants that require the soil to be well hydrated at all times will grow better and faster. Also, as the cardboard roll is biodegradable, you won’t have to worry about removing it as it will have dissolved within a year or so.

Finally, you can also use the roll of planting paper for the plants. It will be enough to make four vertical cuts of the same length. To be as precise as possible, you can take a roll of masking tape that you will use on a surface as a base, place a marker on top of it and bring the roll of paper close to it. In this way, with the marker pen fixed by turning the cardboard, you will have a precise mark all around the circumference, useful for delimiting the depth of the cuts.

Once you have made the 4 cuts, fold the four tabs that have been created over themselves, as if to close the roll. Then fill with soil and seeds and water, the seeds will germinate very quickly and, thanks to the composition of the cardboard roll, you will be able to plant the roll itself directly, thus avoiding transplanting the newly born seedlings.
