Luxurious Chocolate Caramel Pecan Cake

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
2. Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla.
3. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda.
4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
5. Fold in the chopped pecans and pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
7. Once cool, drizzle caramel sauce between the layers and on top of the cake. For an extra touch of luxury, warm the heavy cream and pour it over the caramel to create a glossy finish.
