Ingredients
2 pounds round steak, cut into serving-size pieces
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Ezoic
1/4 cup all-purpose flour for coating
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 large onion, sliced
1 green bell pepper, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 cup beef broth
1/2 cup red wine (optional)
Instructions
Prepare Steak: Season the steak pieces with salt and pepper. Dredge them lightly in flour, shaking off the excess.
Brown Steak: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the steak and brown on both sides. This should take about 3-4 minutes per side. Transfer the browned steak to the moderate cooker.
Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add onion, green pepper, and garlic. Sauté until the vegetables are slightly softened, about 5 minutes. Place the vegetables in the moderate cooker on top of the steak.
Add Tomatoes & Seasonings: Pour diced tomatoes (with juice), Worcestershire sauce, and dried thyme over the steak and vegetables in the moderate cooker. Gently stir to combine.
Pour in Liquids: Add beef broth and red wine (if using) to the moderate cooker. The liquid should not completely cover the steak; it should reach about halfway up the sides of the meat.
Cook: Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or until the steak is tender.
